MammoSource, LLC utilizes CAD technology – Computer-aided detection (CAD) refers to sophisticated pattern recognition software radiologists use to assist them in the interpretation of medical images. This software identifies features on medical images and brings them to the attention of the radiologist in order to decrease false negative readings. It functions as “a second pair of eyes” when reading mammograms. Radiologists review a mammogram, then activate the CAD software and re-evaluate the marked area(s) before issuing a final report. Clinical trials have demonstrated that use of the CAD systems can result in earlier detection of over 20% more breast cancers than detected with screening mammography alone. CAD has received broad support from radiologists, the American College of Radiology, Medicare, and patient advocacy groups. The American Cancer Society has recognized the benefits of CAD as a technology for breast cancer screening in women of average risk.

We scan every mammogram, prior to the radiologist’s read, through our computer assisted detection (CAD) systems. Hard copy studies are then assessed under optimal conditions utilizing alternating viewers with imbedded CAD monitors.  Digital Studies are read on state of the art, dedicated high resolution mammography workstations.

Our operational process flows as follows: upon contracting with MammoSource, the facility will be provided, at no charge, with all the materials needed to send mammograms from anywhere in the US. Upon receipt, MammoSource personnel digitizes the studies in to our CAD systems. The Radiologist evaluates and dictates the exams. Final reports along with the patient's mammograms are then returned to the client facilities. Turn around time is within 48 (business) hours.

In addition, our billing procedure assures the client receives a more than fair return on the process. Services are priced fee-per-study and the facility continues to bill insurance companies.
